Prove It Typing Test Practice
A 3 minute timed passage, the shape of the typing module staffing agencies send. Independent practice, not the Prove It assessment itself.
Text to type:
Rehearse the modules you will actually be sent
A Prove It invitation is not one test. The typing passage is the piece candidates picture, but agencies routinely add a data entry module scored in keystrokes per hour and, for numeric roles, a 10-key module. Candidates prepare for the passage and get caught by the keypad. The guide to the Prove It typing test sets out which modules exist, how the report reads to a recruiter and how to prepare without paying for anything.
We are not affiliated with the test's publisher or with any agency that uses it, and nothing here promises that an outside certificate will stand in for the assessment an agency asks you to take. What this page offers is unlimited free rehearsal of the same shape of exercise.
The report shows your errors, so protect them
The thing that surprises candidates is how much the report reveals: raw speed, errors and adjusted speed, often all visible to the recruiter rather than reduced to one figure. That changes the strategy. A clean 48 reads better than a messy 58 with a long error column. The test above reports the same way, with net WPM, gross WPM, accuracy and a full character breakdown, so you can see which of those numbers is letting you down before the real one is scored.
The other two modules
If your invitation mentions data entry, practise on the KPH typing test, which reports keystrokes per hour from a five minute run. If it mentions 10-key or numeric entry, the 10 key practice test drills continuous numeric entry, which is a genuinely separate skill from prose typing. For roles where you want a checkable record of your speed on your application rather than in an assessment, the verified certificate gives a recruiter an ID to look up.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this the actual Prove It test?
- No. This is independent practice that matches the format. The real assessment is sent to you by the agency or employer as an emailed link and is administered by its publisher, who reports the result to them. TypeTimer is not affiliated with the test's publisher or with any staffing agency, and nothing you do here is submitted or accepted in place of their assessment.
- What is in a Prove It typing assessment?
- Usually a timed passage you retype for a few minutes, with the report showing your raw speed, your error count and an adjusted speed with errors taken out. Alongside it you may be sent a separate data entry module scored in keystrokes per hour, and sometimes a 10-key module for numbers. Which modules you get is the agency's choice.
- What counts as a passing score?
- The agency decides, not the test. There is no universal pass mark, and the recruiter often sees the full report rather than a single number, so your error count is visible alongside your speed. Ask your recruiter what they are screening for; most will tell you, and it is a reasonable question.
- Why is this practice test 3 minutes?
- The typing module is typically a short timed passage of a few minutes rather than a long endurance exercise, so three minutes is the closest honest match. If your agency tells you to expect five minutes, switch the duration above; the test takes any of the standard lengths.
- How do I practise the data entry and 10-key modules?
- Separately, because they measure a different thing. The KPH test covers keystrokes per hour on a full keyboard, and the 10-key practice test covers numeric keypad entry, which is the one candidates are least prepared for. Both are linked below and both are free.
- Should I buy a practice pack?
- You do not need one to rehearse the format, and most of what is sold for this test is either a practice pack or a bare simulator. Everything on this page is free and unlimited. If your agency names a specific module, practise that module's shape rather than paying for a general bundle.
